About In The Black CPA
Beyond the books
CPA experience. Small-business focus.
I’m a licensed CPA with a Master's degree in Accounting and nine years of professional accounting experience, including time at Big 4 and national firms serving public and private companies of all shapes and sizes.
My background in audit has shaped the way I approach bookkeeping: accounts should reconcile, balance-sheet balances should make sense, and financial statements should provide reliable information—not simply reflect transactions that were categorized in a bank feed.
Why In The Black CPA
I created In The Black CPA to bring that same attention to detail to small businesses and independent professionals who need dependable bookkeeping without hiring an in-house accountant.
My goal is simple: keep your books organized, reliable, and useful.

Outside the books
After nine years in accounting, I’ve learned that spreadsheets and deadlines are a lot easier with coffee, so there’s usually a cup nearby. Away from the books, I share my home—and, realistically, most of the decision-making authority—with three cats.
I take the work seriously, but I believe working with your bookkeeper should still feel personal, approachable, and straightforward.
